Jesus did not win all victory just to let it sit there. Neither did He win it to hand it to people who refuse to come UNDER it. Like salvation, victory is a free gift of God’s grace. •• (2) This victory is something that God “gives” us. There are four thoughts in this verse that will encourage you. God must have victory OVER YOU, and over what binds you. We achieve victory in Jesus by resting in Christ (Matthew 11:28) and trusting Him to triumph for us (Romans 5:17). Not only does He stand ready to forgive, He also forgets your sins! He bore the burdens of my sin that day -- my sin, and yours -- so that we may have victory in Jesus through the blood that He shed on the cross.
